History of The Basque Center & Euzkaldunak, Inc.
The Basque Center was built in 1949 and is a gathering place for Basque people of the area. We help maintain our heritage by helping to support Basque dancing, events and gatherings. There is a monthly newsletter that lists the news and activities of Basques in the area and at the Center. In the dancing area, Boiseko Gazteak teaches children from 4 to 13. The Oinkari Basque Dancers are a performance troupe for ages 14 and older. In the music area, a new group has started in 2000 named Txantxangorriak. This group is open to all ages.
We have events such as San Inazio Festival in July, Mortzilla Dinner in November and the Sheepherders Ball in December. Gatherings include monthly dinners that run from August through May. We have a large hall both upstairs and downstairs that is used for these events and is also available for rental.
